Because there are so many social networking sites, it can be difficult for business owners to determine where they should focus their attention. Follow these strategies as you work to select the best social media sites for your needs.

Think About Your Demographic

Social Media Demographics

Different social media platforms attract a different base of users. For example, Snapchat is most widely used by people under the age of 35. Older consumers are more likely to spend their time on Facebook.

Think about the demographic of your target audience. Take a look at market research, and find out where your audience is spending their time. Focus your social media efforts there.

Follow The Latest Trends

Social Media Trends

While not every new social media site will take off, it can pay to pay attention to trends. If you are able to start using a major social networking platform early on, you will be able to attract a much larger audience.

Pay attention to the latest news and trends. Find out which platforms are attracting a lot of attention. Don’t be afraid to experiment and try out new networking sites. If you start using a successful site in the early days, you should see a great deal of success.

Don’t Ignore The Basics

FaceBook Pages

While you should definitely try to focus on new and popular social media sites, you shouldn’t ignore the biggest platforms. Having some presence on major sites like Facebook is extremely important. If consumers are looking for you and can’t find you, they may become frustrated.

Take the time to set up a social networking page on every social media site. This will allow you to control your image completely; no one else will be able to set up a social networking page in your name.

From there, figure out which sites you should focus your efforts on. Even if you don’t update your Facebook page often, it can be helpful to have it.

Ask Your Clients Where They Want You To Be

What Social Media Sites Do Clients Use

Find out which platforms your clients want you to spend time on. Do they spend more time on Instagram, or do they use Twitter more frequently?

If you have a large mailing list, you may want to send out a simple poll. Find out which social media sites your current users prefer. From there, make sure you spend lots of time on these sites. Keep working to attract new customers and expand your audience.

If you follow these simple tips, you should be able to find the best social networking sites for entrepreneurs. You should be able to build your business and increase your success. If you’re able to unlock the full potential of social media, you will be able to reach a very wide audience. Make sure you are using social media properly.

When I read about the purchase of LinkedIn by Microsoft I had a great deal of interest in the matter since I have been working with LinkedIn for some time to take advantage of the same data M$ found valuable as a motive for their acquisition, but from the perspective of acquainting as wide a segment of LI subscribers as possible to the very real practicality of marrying social with a customer-centric marketing platform which is data driven, offers tremendous value as a global marketing solution in acquisition of customers rather than product promotion, but also with world class product marketing.

This portion of a news article really interested me: “The richness of LinkedIn’s data is absolutely the driver. They’ve amassed over 400 million profiles, and what’s valuable is that it’s very high-quality data: It’s added by the users themselves; it hasn’t been scraped off the web; it’s accurate and up-to-date. That’s really the basis of the value around LinkedIn. And among other things, they’ve also created a very vibrant jobs marketplace. There are so many applications of the data and now Microsoft will be able to take advantage of that.”  This reminded me that the data a MarketHive subscriber gets from their signups is very high quality, maybe not so much as LinkedIn, but such that the profiles we get are the list dreams are made of.

The author went on to say: “LinkedIn opened the way for professional or business uses around social, and the Microsoft acquisition really legitimizes that there’s a lot of value in collecting profiles and applying that to meaningful business use. Social isn’t just for sharing photos and updates with family and friends; this concept of social and business connections are very valuable on the professional side.” This is the exact nature of the MarketHive paradigm, “collecting profiles and applying that to meaningful business use.”

“I do believe that LinkedIn started a trend. And there are some natural fits between some social networking companies and some other big companies. LinkedIn helped to show those interesting opportunities around Mergers &Acquisitions, interesting potential pairings between social companies and perhaps more established companies who haven’t gotten into the space and need something in their portfolio to shore up a perceived gap. The acquisition is a major milestone for social networking and certainly for LinkedIn in particular,” he said. This is such sweet music to a not insubstantial player like MarketHive whose goal is exactly to pair social companies with an unparalleled marketing portfolio so there is no gap between social networking, customers and sales.

The question was asked, “How do you think LinkedIn’s products may change?”

The author continued: “Certainly, the two (LinkedIn) products are going to merge. I was one of the folks who did the first Outlook integration for LinkedIn, and there’s been a lot of ideas around how to integrate LinkedIn more with Outlook and Microsoft Office as a whole. For all of that profile data to be used in email communications, it could make a lot of sense to bring all that social data to email, which is still the primary channel for business.” This is exactly the intention of MH whose email capabilities are five star, rock solid on Amazon servers, and scalable for any purpose whatsoever.

In recounting the history of LinkedIn he said, “LinkedIn started in late 2002 out of the ashes of the dot-com bust. At the time, pretty much everyone was checked out, investors especially. It was a rather dark time. Especially here in Silicon Valley – where people tend to move around a lot, and you’re trying to maintain connections with contacts – there was no system for helping people keep track of each other, a platform where people can stay connected.

But we always felt that there was a basis for some very interesting applications on top of the data, so even in the early days, there was a concept of a platform and building vertical applications on top of it. One of those was the job marketplace that allows people to find potential employees and source candidates; another is the CRM/Sales Navigator product that was also based around this idea.” It almost seems that the references are to MarketHive which is far and away the leading player in this niche next to LinkedIn. Although our business model is somewhat different we fully embrace the ‘network effect’ mentioned in the article.

So, in conclusion, the only thing restraining the next big thing whose time has come is that MarketHive is carefully and effectively being coiffed for her debut as a major contender alongside of LinkedIn with a foundational CRM/ Sales Navigator product and a number of ‘vertical applications’, being carefully crafted and built to maturity as the complete fruition of social networking and real world product marketing built upon a customer-centric multi-faceted platform. What a sweet ride this is becoming!

Twitter Marketing For Long-Term Success

Twitter Marketing

Businesses are often seen talking about Facebook when it comes to social media marketing, but there is another powerful platform waiting to be used. This platform would be none other than Twitter. It is one of the leading social media platforms in the world that is used by one and all.

You want to take this traffic and turn it into a goldmine as soon as possible.

Well, this sounds great on paper, but how do you go about doing it, so success is found? Let's take a look.

1) Maximize Keywords

Hashtags

Hashtags and keywords are your best friend. Marketing without these on Twitter is an uphill battle. You will never win without them.

How are people going to find you? They are never going to locate your business when no hashtags or keywords are being used. Look to find out what people are talking about in your niche and use those hashtags. You want to remain relevant.

High Quality Content

Twitter is all about relevancy because people want fresh topics to discuss and tweet. They don't want to be inundated with boring content that is years old and doesn't hold value. You never want to be generic either as that will cost you in the long-run.

Remain relevant and watch as your marketing success doubles.

2) Build Relationships

Twitter is great because building relationships and having conversations is easier. The system is set up in a manner where it becomes easier to do this. Start up a chat and look to keep it going as a business that is marketing. You want people to interact with the business and learn more about it.

This is what helps your marketing campaigns run in the right way.

Those who are not using this approach will never see long-term success because most of their interactions will be "one and done."

Build relationships because that is what matters most for any marketing campaign especially on Twitter.

3) Links Are Important

Twitter Marketing

It does not matter what type of business you are running; the conversions will take place on your landing page (website). You want it to be built in a manner where it can convert leads that arrive. You want to link back to this landing page as much as you can while marketing.

The goal is not to keep them on Twitter the whole time.

Sure, you will begin the process on Twitter, but the deal is going to be sealed on your website, so traffic should be directed towards your site at all times.

No Spamming

You don't have to spam while you are doing this, but once in a while, you have to link back.

This is how Twitter marketing has to be approached by businesses who want to succeed. You will learn a lot along the way because Twitter is still a platform that has not been maximized. Many new leads are available, and methods are still being explored.

Twitter Power

It is a powerful social media platform, so you will know there is traffic to be looked at. You will never be disappointed by the numbers when it comes to who can be targeted.

Highly Effective Facebook Marketing Tips

FaceBook Marketing Tips

Facebook has over 1.6 billion monthly active users and over a billion daily active users globally. In simple terms, almost everyone online is on Facebook and businesses need to have a strong presence on the social network to reach more potential clients and enhance brand awareness. Here are a few Facebook marketing tips to help you increase your reach and engagement on Facebook.

Invest in Facebook Ads

FaceBook Ads

There are over 2.5 million advertisers on Facebook and this number is growing rapidly. It has also been observed over the years that Facebook is slowly turning into a pay to play platform. This is also due to the fact that almost every business is on Facebook and everyone wants to be in front of the same audience. The organic reach is decreasing regularly due to enhanced competition and changes in Facebook algorithm that favors a particular kind of content.

Therefore, it is recommended for businesses to start investing in Facebook advertisements to reach targeted audience. A well-designed ad campaign on Facebook not only helps in increasing the reach of the Facebook page but it also helps in promoting brand awareness. Facebook advertising offers excellent targeting capabilities which mean it’s easy to reach targeted customers at a very low price point.

Use Facebook Insights

FaceBook Insights

You are leaving a lot of money on the table if you are not using Facebook insights. It’s an analytics tool that helps in keeping track of your pages’ likes, engagement, comments, shares and a number of other things. It is imperative for businesses to use this tool to understand their audience and get a measure of the success rate of their marketing efforts.

Contests

FaceBook Giveaway

One of the most effective ways to increase engagement on Facebook is to host contests and giveaways. Giving away stuff for free generates a lot of interest and does not cost much, especially when compared with the enormous benefits in terms of brand awareness and increase in engagement.

Contests not only help in increasing traffic but also increase fan base and shares. If the content is really well-designed, it may also go viral.

Valuable Content

Write valuable Content

Needless to say, people go to Facebook to keep up with their friends but also read interesting content. If your content isn’t interesting, it won’t get much traction on Facebook. However, the content not only needs to be useful but also needs to be presented in an engaging manner.

Take a look at some of the biggest websites online that craft their social media posts in a manner that encourages people to click and read further. Try to emulate them and make sure that the content quality remains good so that people keep coming back for more. The content should also include relevant images.

Videos

FaceBook Videos

Facebook algorithms place a lot of emphasis on video these days. This is due to the reason that Facebook is trying to promote itself as the video platform of choice. People also like to watch videos online and online video is growing rapidly. Businesses are likely to generate higher engagement rates by posting high-quality videos and promoting those posts regularly.

So What Is A Social Media Network?

Basically, a social media network is made up of individuals or organizations that are connected through various social contacts ranging from casual acquaintances to family members. Social networks are established to encourage connections and communication to occur on a wide variety of levels.

A basis for the theory of social networking was a study performed by Stanley Milgram in 1967 that established that any two random United States citizens are connected to one another by a series of six intermediaries, on the average. This idea was made more popular by the play and subsequent movie, “Six Degrees of Separation”, as well as the television show “Six Degrees”. Current Internet experiments continue to explore this concept, such as the Ohio State Electronic Small World Project and Columbia’s Small World Project.

These experiments currently confirm that five to seven degrees of separation are sufficient to connect two people through the Internet. This also serves to confirm the potential effectiveness of Internet social networks to build new connections between people.

The first Internet social network began in 1995 and has 12.9 million visitors today. This makes it difficult to comprehend the rule of 150, also known as the Dunbar number that states that the size of a genuine social network is limited to about 150 members. Over 200 Internet social networking sites exist and the number of members that belong to most them steadily increases.

In an Internet social networking site, a group of founders sends messages to invite members to join the site. Those members then invite additional members and the links continue to grow. Some social networking sites offer viewable profiles for members, address books and online social connections on a social or business level. Many Internet social networks are open to the public.

Internet social networks are a convenient way to link with new people, both personally and professionally. Consider that the senior director of Nielson/NetRatings, Jon Gibs, states that Internet “…social networking is not a fad that will disappear. If anything, it will become more ingrained in mainstream sites.”

The following are 20 of the most Popular Social Media Sites Right Now published by Antony Maina

3 Useful Social Media Marketing Tips to Help You Create Your Best Strategy

Social Media Marketing Strategy

Many business owners realize the importance of implementing social media into their marketing strategy. Although you know how crucial it is for the success of your own business, you may still struggle with doing it the right way. If you are having a hard time with social media marketing, you can use the easy and helpful tips below to put together your own custom strategy.

1. Improve Your Presence on Twitter

Twitter

You may have pushed Twitter to the side because you can only write out short tweets instead of writing lengthy messages to your followers. However, there are tons of great ways to use this popular social media site to your advantage. If you already have an account, it is time to reinvent yourself. Start by making sure you have a profile picture and background picture uploaded.

Include some short details about yourself in the bio description with a link to your site. Once you have completed the easiest tasks, it is time to start following some people who are interested in your niche. There is no reason to follow everyone you can find on Twitter because that will just waste a lot of your time. Use the search feature to look for popular niche-related hashtags that different people are using, and then follow some of those people.

You do not have to go on adding sprees when using Twitter. In fact, after adding several people you think would benefit from your business, it is time to start focusing on what to put in each post. Instead of adding links to your products in each post, you should offer lots of valuable information to keep your followers and gain even more of them.

Your posts could include interesting facts, time saving tips, good advice or even details about a contest you are throwing. People who are using social media love getting involved with contests because there is that chance of winning a great prize for following a business account and learning more about what the business offers.

2. Never Put Pinterest on the Back Burner

Pinterest

Some people start thinking solely about marketing on Twitter and Facebook, but they forget all about Pinterest. You do not want to make that mistake because then you will miss out on a lot of traffic for your website. There are tons of business owners who were able to increase their traffic and sales by using Pinterest.

It is important to plan out everything ahead of time. You can create several boards under your account. If you are selling different types of merchandise, it makes sense to have one board for shirts, one for bags, one for shoes and so forth. After creating each board, use related tags to make it easier for people to find the items you have pinned on the site.

Each pin is a photo you will need to upload. You can take some great photographs of the products you are selling before uploading them. As soon as you upload a photo, you need to add a description using SEO keywords. The content should sound natural and offer useful information to those using Pinterest so they can learn more about the product you are offering before they check out your website to see what else you can give them.

Do not forget to follow some of your favorite boards. Although it is easy to gain followers naturally on Pinterest as people start to see the different pins you have posted, those who have created their own boards may start following back and re-pinning your content.

3. Get More Shares on Facebook

FaceBook

You may already have a business page on Facebook with several followers, but you still need to work on getting more shares. Do you feel like you spend time creating good content that does not get noticed by enough people? If so, there are a few adjustments you might need to make.

If you are not adding a photo with your content, you should consider doing so. While people are scrolling down their timeline, they may stop what they are doing as soon as they see an interesting photo in front of them. After looking at the photo for a minute, they can read the post you wrote, and then decide if they want to share it. Along with using photos to get attention, make sure to keep your posts as engaging as possible by removing the fluff and getting right to the point.

Using Social Network Platforms For Marketing Purposes Social Media Platforms

Social network platforms are very popular these days and that’s for a few good reasons. They are free, easy to use, and there are tons of people you know that use them already. Harness the power of these kinds of websites by learning here how to market on them.

Start An Account

If you’re going to market through social media, you’re going to need an account. These are free, and you can have one in the name of your business to use through a business profile if the site has that kind of option. Either way, make sure you treat this as a professional page where you talk to others as if you are a company and not like it’s your personal profile. Otherwise, you could offend people or make them feel like you’re not a professional and that would be no good.

After you open an account, you will want to add content to it. For instance, if there’s a place to put a description of your company then you can spend some time coming up with a good overview of what you do. When it comes time to add pictures, don’t put any on your profile that are too personal because you want them to reflect what your business is like. People probably will enjoy if you share more about your personal life, but you have to ask yourself if it’s good for business or if you should hold off on that stuff and just use it on your personal account.

When And What Should You Post?

How Often To Post To Social Media

Before you post anything on social media, you have to realize that if you do it too often you will be considered a spammer and people will not want to follow you for very long. If you don’t post enough, then people are going to forget why they are there and you may lose people because of that as well. The best thing to do is to post a couple of times a week at the least, but no more than twice a day when it comes to your marketing messages.

You can drive traffic to your main website and even make sales through it by using your social media presence. What you want to do is start working on a blog or something similar that has interesting content in it that you can easily share with your followers. Once they see that you post interesting content it will be easier to get them to share your posts with their friends. Once you get the ball rolling, you could start getting traffic from all over the place if you play your cards right.

Dealing With Other People

Dealing With Difficult People

When you’re marketing on a social media site, be prepared to deal with difficult people. Sometimes you’ll run into the kind of person that just wants to try to anger you and so they’ll say anything offensive they can to you to try to get a rise out of you. Instead of giving into that kind of behavior, you should just ignore it and then block that person if they don’t stop. If you give in and get angry at them, they will probably share your conversation with the world and make you look bad.

You should check your profile at least once a week so you can go in and answer questions or respond to comments. Even if people are just saying they enjoy what you are doing, you can thank them. You want people to feel like you are accessible because that will make them feel more at home so they are likely to trust you enough to make an order. It’s a good idea to spend time with customers in a professional way, but remember not to start getting personal or making friends from your business account to keep yourself professional.

Plan

A social network platform can help you reach out to a lot more people with your marketing efforts than before. It’s important that you get to work on a plan quickly. That way, you can still work with this kind of website while it’s still one of the most popular ones on the Internet.

There are several effective ways to maximize the use of the twitter tool to enhance the account and profile of a site. The more exposure the site is able to attract the better the prospects of increased revenue earned.

Tips

The following are just some recommendations on how to go about achieving this ideal scenario:

• Perhaps the foremost point to make would be to effectively use the twitter tool to find and add newer contacts to an already existing list. The literal concept here is follow and be followed. Using emails as another follow up tool will encourage the viewer to pursue the initial contact.

• Letting the viewing audience know that there is a twitter page where your antics can be followed is part of the social networking engine. Using the other tools on the social networking platform to announce this is quite effective.

• Adding the twitter information to the email signature is also another way to allow and encourage viewers to follow the postings.

• Blogging about the twitter page being featured is also encouraged. Reminding all viewers of the regular intervals of posting through the blogging tool will create the excitement to encourage them to keep tabs on the latest information being dispensed.

• The twitter widget is also another additional beneficial element to make use of as this allows the other viewers to be aware of the frequency of the twitting exercise. The twitter widget should be added to the site of blog.

• Listing on the twitter directories is another way to explore the possibilities of getting noticed. These directories are very effective in getting the site noticed by those seeking similar information.

• Ensuring the twitter page is attractive and attention grabbing will create the interest in wanting to follow the page. Use eye catching background and color schemes, avatars and bio information.

Avoid Over Promoting

Over promoting is a very dangerous category to fall into as this may eventually cause the viewing audience to turn elsewhere for the information they seek thus severely damaging the twitter page’s chances of making a success of whatever is being featured. Therefore it is necessary to check that this negative element does not appear and cause the damaging effects.
Be Cautious

Twitters have a “language” of their own and understanding and using it is both necessary and beneficial if the individual hosting a twitter site wants to be taken seriously in this arena.

There is a need to ensure the various new terms used as posting material which does not adhere to this will eventually get the site discredited or ignored. Choosing an unsuitable name is also to be avoided as this will cause the professionalism element to be severely discredited and not taken seriously.

Getting into a bragging mode with the intention of promoting something is a thinly disguised attempt to get noticed. When done often enough it will cause the exact opposite effects instead, as those originally viewing the site will end up being exasperated and bored.

Bad choice of timing is also another element to avoid as it may seem that the tweets are being run too frequently and even if the viewing was missed initially.

The unsolicited frequency of the tweeting exercise will eventually cause annoyance as viewers may no longer be interested in the same information being posted.

More often than not this self promoting material can get redundant even if what is being promoted is useful and relevant in the host’s perspective.

Repetitive information will become stale. Sometimes when there is too much promoting done, the basic need to address certain issues are overlooked or ignored. This will frustrate the participating viewer as the concerns fail to be addressed effectively.
